Economic evaluation of pharmaceutical and medical technology is the largest area of work at IHE. Examplex of projects in this area are calculations of cost of illness and treatment for different diseases, cost-effectiveness analyses where two or more competing therapies are compared and analysis of R&D strategies.

Projects in this area often involve construction of analytical health-economic models. IHE has developed models for different disease areas such as diabetes and cancer aand for assessing introduction of new vaccination strategies.
